So I came home tonight, all ready and pumped up to do some homework, but the minute I walked in the door I was distracted by the pan of brownies left over from our apartment warming. That was at 7:45pm, and I haven’t gotten much farther than that now. I thought about watching Monday night football, then realized that I don’t really care about that particular game, and anyway if I had turned on the TV I’d have ended up watching some shitty, four hour long, made for TV movie, so it’s best that I avoided it all together. Instead I talked to Jiin-yu for a while about boys, like we’re a couple of junior high school girls. Ok, well, maybe a couple of slutty junior high girls. In any case I’ve managed to do just about everything to waste time, and avoid doing homework, except blog, so I figured, why not?
This is kind of an odd blog for me, because I usually have some kind of idea for something to talk about, and despite the fact that there are a million things that I need to bitch about, they’re kind of personal (meaning all my friends and some strangers know), as well as the kind of thing that I shouldn’t post in such a public forum (meaning that if for some random reason my mother happened to read about them I would be disowned). So basically, I’m just going to ramble, so don’t say I didn’t warn you.
I definitely think I’ve been partying too much, because my brain is working at about half its normal rate. I keep not giving myself a chance to recover from my wild weekends, (and some weeknights), and I think the continual killing of brain cells is starting to take it’s toll. I kind of feel like if I don’t do this kind of thing now, though, I’ll never do it. College is the only place where you can wander into parties you weren’t invited to, and leave with different people than those who you came with. It’s the only time in your life where you can run around naked, and pee in bushes, and not get arrested if a cop sees you. (Not that I do that stuff, I’m just saying). My point is that I feel like I need to take advantage of the opportunities that I have right now. I feel kind of bad for those people who are so involved with work and future and stuff that they never have the opportunity to go completely wild. This is what college is about, and is the only time in life where I’ll ever be able to live like this.
So to all you uptight pre-med, biochem majors: Put down the books, put on some slutty clothes, and go get drunk. Maybe hook up with a random guy too. When you wake up in the morning, you might not feel the greatest, but you’ll have had an interesting experience, and a great story to tell your friends (or have them tell you depending on how much you drank). Anyway, that’s my public service announcement for today. What's really funny is the fact that very few schools besides my own actually need public service announcements like this. A lot of Rice people are so focused and driven, which is great, but they also miss out on so much. Ah well, I'm glad I'm not one of them. Now back to econ....
