So have you ever run into one of those people who you know you should be insanely attracted to but for some completely bizarre reason you’re not? I have fallen victim to this particular problem, as well as it’s inverse: being insanely attracted to someone who you’re not supposed to be attracted to at all. I guess I should clarify what I mean when I say supposed to be attracted to. There are actually two related definitions. The first is that by all accounts this person is your “type,” and you know that normally or under different circumstances, you would be all up on them, but for whatever reason, you aren’t. The attraction just isn’t there. The other definition is that this person is absolutely perfect, everything you’ve ever thought you wanted in a significant other and could never find, but for some reason you just gag at the thought of getting with them. The inverse of those would be that there’s a person who you would usually never be attracted to, who drives you crazy with lust, or that there’s a person who you know it’d be an absolutely horrible idea to get with for whatever reason, but you just can’t help yourself.

I suppose the bigger of my two problems is the being attracted to the person that I would usually never be attracted to. I don’t mind not being attracted to someone; that’s just more of a curious, and rather ironic situation, but me being insanely attracted to this other guy….that’s a BFD.

The main problem is that I seem to be slightly obsessed, which is creepy. I make fun of people who act like I am right now. I just can’t seem to get this guy out of my head, and it bugs the shit out of me, especially because I don’t even know him. I’ve met him, like, twice. Additionally, being me, I’m unable to keep my mouth shut, so everyone and their mother knows that I’m obsessed with this guy. He probably even knows. It’s so frustrating, because I haven’t had a crush since I was like 14. I don’t really believe in romance or love at first sight, or any of that bullshit that the movie industry has stuffed into the heads of every girl in the country since birth. So I’m completely at a loss as to why I have suddenly become Miss Suzy Psycho. My number one theory right now is that I’m just a horndog, and it’s been too long since I’ve gotten any, but I just don’t know. I was fine before I met him. My other theory is that something about the word “exacerbate” is completely hot, and I didn’t have a chance once he said it. Completely weird, I know, but I can’t think of any other explanation…. I seriously need help.

On another note, I tried to do a good deed today in the form of giving blood. (FYI: I mostly did it because my roommate coordinated the drive, and threatened me with bodily harm). Anyway, I say tried because I wasn’t actually successful. The got about ¾ of a pint out of me, and then the stupid lady went and messed with the needle to make it go faster and the blood stopped flowing. My theory is that she pushed it through the other side of the vein or something, and messed everything up. Anyway, she then attempted to twist and wiggle the shit while it was still in my arm to make more blood come out. I’m not a wuss, but that shit hurt like a mofo. In the end she ended up just giving up and removing the needle. When I asked her if the blood could be used she told me no. Are you kidding me? I gave up all that blood for her to just throw it out? I was so incredibly steamed. Additionally, I didn’t even get any free cookies out of the deal. What I don’t get is why they can’t use partial bags. Couldn’t they have different sizes or something? I’m sure not everyone who needs blood uses up a whole bag. What makes the waste even more atrocious is that I’m a universal donor (that’s type O for ya’ll who don’t remember your biology). Somebody’s life could have been saved with that shit, and instead of appreciating what I could give, they’re going to throw it out. I’m SO annoyed. To top the whole thing off, I now have a giant bruise on my arm from where she was twisting the needle. Stupid blood drive people. They act like they’re doing you a favor instead of the other way around. I mean, one of the women in there had a serious attitude, like all of us just couldn’t wait to have our blood sucked out and put in baggies. You’d think she’d try and be a little nicer to those of us who actually are trying to make this world a fucking better place. Ugh. I’m never giving blood again.
